BOTOX COSMETIC®
How does it work?
Botox works by gently relaxing muscles
that are pulling the skin into wrinkles. It can counteract muscles that
are pulling the face downward, allowing the other muscles to provide
more lift to the face. The medication is carefully purified from a
chemical produced by a specific bacteria found in nature.
How long does it last?
Botox effects usually last 3-4 months, your results may vary; many patients prefer low-dose
“touch-ups” every 6-8 weeks rather than repeating the entire treatment
every 3-4 months.
Is it safe?
Only bona-fide product manufactured by Allergan, the
pharmaceutical company which developed this medication, is ever used. Drs. Krever
is a licensed, board-certified physician who has been
specifically trained in the use of these products. When used correctly,
Botox is extremely safe. It was originally developed for use in
children with cerebral palsy.
Who should not use Botox Cosmetic?
Anyone with a neuromuscular disorder such
as Myasthenia Gravis should not use Botox. Botox has not been tested in
pregnant women or nursing mothers and is therefore not recommended for
these patients.
How much does it cost?
The amount of Botox used is carefully tailored for each patient.
In the same way that different patients require different doses of any
medication, Botox dosing will vary by the patient and is usually related
to the size and strength of the facial muscles being targeted. It
is priced by the number of units used. Click here for more on pricing.
